My Mother and her Gypsy Heart

Helen Ruth Watts-Franklin
Mom, she is gone from this world, but she is still with me. In fact she sometimes gives me pause, her presence is so strong, Usually when I am having a bad day and its not getting better, she reminds me that I can choose to make lemonade out of lemons.

I miss her dearly and look forward to greeting her again. Her strong personality and hot temper in that 4′ 11″ presence was frustrating at times, but she had a heart of gold and was there for anyone who asked her for help.  Her life was sometimes a great struggle, something I didn’t truly understand until after she was gone. She remained young in spirit, even when her body failed her. A good woman who made everyone she knew laugh and enjoy her company.

Blessed be mom~

  1. I was 21 when my mum passed away (1980)…she was just 54 years old. I miss her so much, and remember everything about her…even her voice. She made me laugh when she would try and read our tea leaves…she’s probably smiling now as she looks down and sees the tarot decks in my hands.I cherish the memories I have of my loving mum.
